Glorifying the Common Man 295x230 cm Glass colors on paper 2006

Goulis’ work explores the notion of the painting as means of intuitively reforming his everyday-ness and recollecting nostalgic
feeling. Often the material is originated from sci-fi films, computer games and scientific magazine by which he starts a collection of
personal experience and a search for his metaphysical identity. In his paintings, the objects are isolated in a background-less
space and accompanied with stylish graphic texts. The absence of the surrounding characterises the physicality of the objects
and emphasizes oneself as Romantic ‘hero’. The texts seem to come from a monologue when taking a walk alone and indulging in
complete solitude.
